Overview

Gupta Dham, also known as Gupteswar Cave, is a natural limestone cave temple situated in the deep Kaimur hills of Rohtas district. Devotees embark on an adventurous 10km trek through rivers, valleys, and forests to reach the cave. Inside the dark, narrow cave sits a natural stalagmite Shivling formed by mineral-rich water drops, revered by millions.

History & Origins

According to legend, Lord Shiva hid inside this cave to escape the demon Bhasmasura, which gives the cave the name "Gupta" (hidden) Dham.
